The natural world is a container for joy—joy that comes with a sense of connection with the cosmos, a realization that we are part of it all. That somewhere between the lowly snails and the towering cedars, we actually belong here, too.
To re-connect to the seasons of life, all you have to do is go outside and pay attention. What’s discovered there more than pays for the effort it takes to look.
To start a nature journal, simply make a quick sketch of one element of nature that catches your eye. You might add a few notes on other sights and sounds in the vicinity. Be sure to note the date, so when you go back and look at your entry again, you can connect what you see with the time of year. And that’s it.
Then tomorrow, go outside and do it again.
