For faith communities gearing up for the annual pledge drive: Here you'll find three sets of original stewardship skits designed to inspire, inform, and make people laugh.
Each set includes three skits that take about five minutes each. You can download the skits for use in your faith community. They are a gift from the Courtyard to you.
We developed the skits in three sets so that they could provide programming for three years of stewardship drives, and we decided to use the familiar convention of Year A, Year B, and Year C to group them. However, the skits are not tied to the church calendar and may be used during any liturgical year. Though they do contain some common characters, each set stands on its own.

The Year A set, “Edythe’s Gifts,” follows new member Edythe as she moves deeper into parish life and grows into her own God-given generosity, with the help of her guardian angel.
In the Year B set, “Ever Blessing, Ever Blest,” Edythe takes on the chair of the parish’s singing Budget Committee, accompanied by her ever-faithful guardian angel.
In the Year C set, “Abundant Love, Abundant Life,” Edythe learns how to let go and let God as she completes her third year as Stewardship Committee chair and hands off the reins to a new committee.
At St. Paul’s, these skits were first performed in 2006, 2007, and 2008 during festive evenings of rich desserts, testimonials from parishioners, fellowship, and fun. In 2013, the Year A skits, “Edythe’s Gifts,” were updated and performed during a Sunday service. (See the slide show at the bottom of this post for pictures of that revival.)
You are welcome to use this skits in your faith community or other nonprofit setting, and to modify them to better suit your community. These skits may not be used in any commercial or for-profit setting, and may not be modified for such use. As a courtesy, please acknowledge that they came from InTheCourtyard.com. I’d love to hear back how the skits work for you — send me a note via the Contact page, or post a comment below.
Religion and money. Now there’s a pairing to raise the hairs on the back of your head … which is exactly what makes it so funny.
Best wishes for your stewardship program in the coming year. And make ‘em laugh!
